You are much more of an Aristophanes than a Sophocles. How about a show of Socratic humor?

Good to hear that you and Jimmy are making amends. Still a few tense moments in this show, but progress is definitely being made. It sounds like the socratic method is still a bit of a sticking point though, and you should either be a bit clearer about what your intentions are, or try some other technique as that seems to be causing a lot of the friction.

Also, glad to hear that you are taking my advice and warning your guests when you are going to set up a long point, but make sure you stick to the time you allowed yourself or make it clear you will need more time and give some indication of your progress toward the point. It is your show and you should be in charge of directing the discussion, but you need to be considerate of your guest’s time as well. It is not reasonable to expect them to wait for an indeterminate amount of time without some explanation of why or how long that will be. A really good way to defuse the tension is to give a brief (20 or 30 second) outline of the “path” you intent to take with your Socratic line of questions before you start down it. Also, you need to make it clear to Jimmy, that the whole point of your line of questions is not to get answers to those questions, but to lead the discussion to a particular place to get to some larger point at the end. Jimmy gets too focused on the individual questions and loses track of the bigger picture you are trying to paint.

Definitely getting to more interesting discussion though, and I hope future shows make further progress in this direction.

I love both of you guys but Jimmy really lost it. He was worse than rush or O’Reilly, hence making your point as you Sally forth into the brave new world of conversation v screaming.

I am really surprised at so many listeners being upset with Jimmy’s anger.

Allow me to tell you the difference between Jimmy and Rush, O’Really?, et al.

Jimmy is genuinely angry. Rush and co know they are talking horsesh!t and do it anyway. Rush admits it after pretty much every election now, so please stop saying Jimmy is worse then these clowns. You are talking apples and oranges.

Do you wonder why Jimmy got so mad? I just listened to the second hour of conservative indoctrination as David lets the man so proud of his beliefs that he has to hide his identity speak unchallenged. Jimmy didn’t get two sentences out before David cut him off and started the criticism and insults and challenges.

I sat through another hour of it but frankly David I don’t know how many more times I can sit through an hour of “Your right Mr. Conservative, absolutely Mr. Conservative. No wonder Mr Conservative was so much more reasonable than Jimmy. It’s hard to get upset over an hour long hand job.

You want to have Mr. Conservative on, put him up against Jimmy directly and we will see how solid his ideas are when they are challenged by someone with facts behind them.

I am hovering over the unsubscribe button now. If there continues to be no difference between your show and Glen Beck then I will have to chose to not listen to either.

If the only way you can have a conservative on is to let him speak unchallenged then what is the sense of having him on at all.

I’m just asking a question, i’m just asking a question, i’m just asking a question. God damn just have a the discussion instead of asking 50 yes/no questions. That is just boring lazy interviewing/debating. David just derails useful conversation while Jimmy wants to talk about real issues instead of hypothetical yes/no situations.
