Feeling safe also includes safe from our police. The ACLU issued a report this morning on “hyper aggressive” policing in America where billions of dollars in military equipment is transferred from the pentagon to local law enforcement. Local SWAT teams use the equipment to bust down doors searching primarily for drugs, and rarely, if ever, use the equipment for what it’s intended to do be used for: taking down snipers or freeing a hostage.
