Will Bill Hader Bring Stefon to HBO?

Stefon from SNL

Do you love Stefon? Of course you do. HBO has inked a deal with SNL’s Bill Hader and we can only hope that means he will be bringing Stefon along for the ride.

Stefon from SNL

Bill Hader as Stefon.

HBO wants Bill Hader, badly. The premium cable channel has signed the former Saturday Night Live star to an exclusive development deal that would have him create and star in his own comedy series. No word if the deal will effect his gig voicing the evil Dr. Giuseppe Malocchio on Hulu’s original animated comedy The Awesomes , which was renewed for a second season last fall. Hader spent eight seasons at Saturday Night Live , including some time as a writer on the late night sketch comedy show. Since he left SNL in 2013, he has stayed busy, appearing […]

Return of the Oligarchs: Ukraine Poised to Elect ‘Chocolate King’ as President

Return of the Oligarchs: Ukraine Poised to Elect ‘Chocolate King’ as President

Polls show Petro Poroshenko ahead of former prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko in Sunday’s election. The Euromaidan protestors in Kiev who ousted former president Viktor Yanukovich sought an end to the corruption, selective justice and crony capitalism that had plagued the country since the fall of the Soviet Union. How ironic then that the man who will likely be elected president of Ukraine this Sunday is a leading representative of this old way of doing things. Petro Poroshenko is an oligarch who has shifted political allegiances—even serving in the Yanukovich government—and exploited political ties for commercial gain. But whereas most […]

Patrick Stewart on 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'

"I was not a comic book reader," Patrick Stewart says, with a distinct note of apology. "Not those kind, anyway. I read storybook comics, and when I was much younger I read children’s cartoons. But I never read, nor indeed had any interest in, any of the Marvel-superhero type of comics." There was a time when an eminent 73-year-old actor wouldn’t feel obliged to apologize for that lapse in four-color literacy, but that was before superhero movies ate Hollywood. And it’s partially his own fault: It wouldn’t have happened without the success of 2000’s X-Men, the first real Marvel […]

Ralph Nader and Grover Norquist: Washington’s Most Unlikely Bromance

Ralph Nader and Grover Norquist: Washington’s Most Unlikely Bromance

If even these political opposites can agree on a few things, is there possibly hope that Washington can still align to get things done? When you think of the funniest personalities in Washington, Ralph Nader doesn’t spring to mind. The longtime anti-corporate crusader is one of the most serious people in politics, but when anti-tax activist Grover Norquist told him he would have fun participating in a standup comedy contest, Nader agreed to do it. And even though he’s been on Saturday Night Live five times, he played off his humorless reputation, admitting he didn’t know how to laugh, […]

Triumph the Insult Comic Dog series among new Adult Swim offerings

Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, the cigar-chomping rubber hand-puppet character from "Late Night With Conan O’Brien," will be getting his own series soon on Adult Swim. Some may question this, but no, you can never have too much Triumph the Insult Comic Dog. 'Revenge porn' victims receive boost from German court rulingIntimate photographs should be deleted at the end of a relationship if one of the partners calls for it, a court in Germany has ruled.
