Menstruation: What Ivanka Must Teach Donald

The leader of the free world calls women “fat pigs,” “dogs,” “slobs,” and “disgusting animals.” Over the next four years what hope do women have for their “whatevers?” Especially the millions of female refugees lacking toilets, running water and basic sanitation. Dr. Marni Sommer writes about menstruation issues confronting refugees and she joins us from Tanzania. Also Howie Klein from Down with Tyranny. Michael Snyder tells us what movies to catch. Comic Jon Ross remembers why he and David stopped talking for several years. Comic Laura House is in love. And the host of Succotash Marc Hershon does everything and knows even more.

Good news for the White House, Trump’s new healthcare plan now includes immunity from prosecution. Howie Klein from Down with Tyranny peels back the curtain on what’s in store for the GOP when it comes to impeachment, getting rid of Obamacare and denying African Americans the right to vote. Sunday was Menstrual Hygiene Day around the world. Millions of girls and women especially refugees lack the hygiene and facilities to attend to their fertility issues. I read about this in an article posted at The Conversation. It was written by Dr. Marni Sommer from Columbia University who joins us today from Tanzania where she is working inside two refugee camps. Then we lighten the mood talking with my old and dear friend Jon Ross. Jon’s a comedian, a comedy writer and provides a follow up to last week’s conversations with Jake Johannsen and Fred Stoller about the early days of the San Francisco comedy scene. Marc Hershon hosts Succotash, writes for the Huffington Post and Splitsider and has written several screenplays for the Hallmark Channel. He joins us from Sausalito to discuss which podcasts we should be downloading, and then recalls the early days of San Francisco’s standup explosion. Plus, she’s back! House is in the Laura! Laura House is in love and on our show.

Mark Normand & Fred Stoller

Mark Normand’s Comedy Central special Don’t Be Yourself debuts this week. He talks about suffering brain freeze on last week’s Tonight Show, his insatiable need to be loved, the idiocy of dancing, and why women are attracted to men who have a lot of sex. Fred Stoller discusses his new Kindle Single, “Five Minutes to Kill: How the HBO Young Comedians Special Changed the Lives of 1989’s Funniest Comics, Warren Thomas, Drake Sather, Norm MacDonald and Jan Karem.” Fred also talks about Sarah Silverman’s exquisite beauty, David’s imaginary kids, pitching Seinfeld episodes to Larry & Jerry, Bruce Smirnoff, Richard Jeni and whether it’s healthy to give human names to cats.

We eat out veggies with Vox’s Dylan Matthews who tells how exactly to get rid of Donald Trump, AlterNet’s Alex Kotch on what Rick Perry is doing to our planet, Roast Battle Champ Dave Sirus explains women, Miami Bureau Chief Bruce Smirnoff on how giving Fred Stoller an Armani suit resulted in one of Seinfeld’s greatest episodes, and Mystery Science Theater’s J. Elvis Weinstein talks about Thought Spiral his new podcast with Andy Kindler.

David forgets Roger Ailes.

Trump Leaks Like His Russian Hookers

Donald Trump leaks classified information to the Russians. Howie Klein from Down with Tyranny fills us in. How corrupt is Congress? On Monday, Politico released the results of its three-month study of senators and house members who continue to play the stock market, trading on what some might call inside information despite passage of a law five years ago specifically banning such activity. We talk with the author of that study Politico’s Maggie Severns. The reason radio and television stink is because the justice department wont enforce antitrust legislation and so television and radio remains in the rapacious hands of just a few corporations who care more about money than they do our democracy. Trump’s FCC is expected to allow media conglomerates to just get bigger, case in point– the conservative television group Sinclair broadcasting announced plans to buy Tribune’s television stations. David Dayen from The Nation and The Intercept joins us to talk about why the growth of large media giants is good for republicans but bad for what’s left of America’s critical thinking. Graham Ellwood is a hysterical comedian who hosts Comedy Film Nerds. His new documentary about podcasting has just been released. It’s called Ear Buds: The Podcasting Documentary. And then we discuss parenting, and mating with animal behaviorist dr. Dr. Jennifer Verdolin whose new book Raised by Animals is just out this month. We talk about that and her previous book Wild Connection: What Animal Courtship and Mating Tell Us About Human Relationships which tackles the wild world of romance. Here’s a hint, if you want to attract a mate, don’t use so much perfume and stop showering. Also we learn that the birth control pill may be leading women into picking the wrong mate.

Trump’s Comey Over

Is Trump guilty of a cover-up far more blatant than those lion pubic hairs stapled to the top of his skull? Comics Andy Kindler and Bruce Smirnoff along with National Security Reporter for The Intercept Mattathias Schwartz, Constitutional Law Professor Corey Brettschneider and Movie Critic Michael Snyder. Plus From The Vault: Robert Smigel is Donald Trump.

Andy Kindler regularly voices the character of Mort, a mortician and the Belchers’ neighbor, on Bob’s Burgers. He also stars on IFC’s Maron. His State of The Industry addresses make history at Montreal’s Just For Laughs Festival and are now available for download on iTunes. Kindler is considered one of the funniest comic minds and the most daring, unafraid to attack comics, producers, agents and everybody else who can further his career. He is one of Alex Brizel’s all time favorite comics which makes David jealous.
