A Very Special Feldman Thanksgiving

Jedediah Feldman leading our first Thanksgiving Seder.

Yesterday was Thanksgiving where I finally broke it to my mother that I’m adopted.

My children sat at the table reminding me that America is the number one producer of carbon dioxide. America has more prisoners than any country on earth. America spends more on weapons than all the countries on Earth combined while one fourth of our own children are malnourished.

Hey. Can I have one dinner without you people attacking my feculent sphincter of a country?

One night where all of us are grateful to live in the United States of America, a nation of 350 million ignorant dung beetles who care more about their toys than the Chinese slaves who make them?

Give me one dinner, one night where we take a break from enumerating the barnacles of imperfection clinging to this putrid oil tanker of racial injustice we call America. A country that I pray each night is invaded and then occupied by French Canadians.

Can’t I have one dinner, one night where I am grateful to be surrounded by friends and family? Who will be leaving in less than three hours?

Is America that bad? Is America really that terrible? Yes, of course it is.

But ease up. It’s Thanksgiving. We just reelected a guy named Barack Hussein Obama. Won’t you at least concede that occasionally we get some things right?

It’s Thanksgiving. It’s quiet. Am I a war criminal just because I want to bury my head in the sand for only one night?

No. I’m not. I’m a war criminal because my tax dollars pay for an army of drones that kill innocent women and children living in countries Congress never declared war against while I take pride in the fact that the guy ordering those killings has the middle name Hussein.

That’s why I’m a war criminal. That’s why everyone at this table are all war criminals. And war criminals don’t get pie.Now. Anyone want to talk about the Detroit Lions?

A Phony Hero for a Phony War

David was one of the first to call Petraeus a fraud. But this guy says it better. (Photo via New York Times.)

It’s always nice when someone can say something I said but only better and much smarter. This is from an advanced copy of the Sunday New York Times. It’s written by  Lucian K. Truscott IV. And it’s an example of why the New York Times continues to be one of the last things worth reading. For example:

Pretty good, no? Or this:

I would propose that every moment a general spends on his uniform jacket is a moment he’s not doing his job, which is supposed to be leading soldiers in combat and winning wars — something we, and our generals, stopped doing about the time that MacArthur gold-braided his way around the stalemated Korean War.

Any way, any well thought out essay on why Petraeus is a fraud is well worth reading.

Oliver Stone on Petraeus

Oliver Stone warns that America is endangering its future by worshiping false idols, especially in the military.

This morning on CBS Director Oliver Stone echoes my charge that General David Petraeus is no hero. Stone talks about Petraeus’ failed policies in both Iraq and Afghanistan. And then adds:

“I don’t understand all the furor…in American media, they praise him as a hero. I don’t see a hero. I see a misguided policy in Iraq…misguided policy in Afghanistan…the military worship in this country has reached unhealthy proportions.”

Stone goes on to question how we can survive as a democracy when we create these false idols:

Stone defended his stance, explaining “I am all for honoring people who served…I am a veteran myself,” but added, “I don’t believe in false worship and hero worship.”

The Real David Petraeus Scandal

General David Petraeus seen here thinking about keeping us safe.

On today’s show with Michael Snyder I went on about how David Petraeus has militarized the CIA, and the real shame is not adultery but rather all those CIA drone strikes killing innocent civilians. Some have since complained that I disrespected a trusted military leader. Instead I was well ahead of the curve, as evidenced by this piece in today’s Atlantic.

As this scandal unfolds and we witness the blinding incompetence over at the CIA and the FBI  keep in mind these are the halfwits tapping your phone.

Once Again Jimmy Dore Is WRONG About Brian Williams

There comes a time in an election when you have to stop blaming the media, and start blaming the voter.

A week doesn’t go by without Jimmy Dore coming on the show to trash NBC’s Brian Williams. David is constantly finding himself having to defend Williams, someone about whom David couldn’t give a rat’s ass. Below is an example of Brian Williams speaking out against Rush Limbaugh and George W. Bush.

By the same token, Rush Limbaugh is absolutely correct in his critique of MSNBC. It has become progressive porn, and chooses to cover the horse race instead of real news.

Is Jimmy correct that there is a problem with our media? Yes. We just think Brian Williams isn’t the biggest problem, and occasionally does a pretty good job.
